A few more bumps and a smooth patch

Picking up where I left off . . .

Sunday: It was the usual hassle before bedtime. During the night, the machine started making a different, louder sound than before, which made Christian wake up and ask, "What's that horn sound?" Jackson was hanging his head off of the bed so he could lie on his side. With the mask, he can only sleep on his back, his least favorite position. Nobody could sleep with the horn sound, so the mask was removed, and they all got a few hours of sleep.

Monday: Angy called the medical supply company yet again. She discussed the situation with the owner and found out that the technician who had been to their house didn't have a clue about what she was doing or saying. So they made an appointment for Jackson to come in on Wednesday for a fitting by the owner. It was a restful no-mask night.

Tuesday: No mask . . . zzzzz

Wednesday: Jackson was upset on the drive to the medical supply company, and he cried something awful during the fitting. But, thank God, he ended up with a smaller mask that doesn't jam into the inside corners of his eyes. As they were preparing to leave, one of the employees said, "Look at him. He's so happy." Angy turned around to see her son's megawatt smile. One good thing about the mask is that when it comes off, Jackson's on a mountaintop.

That night, Darrell put the mask on Jackson and lay with him. Jackson shook nervously for a while, but then fell asleep without crying. He stayed asleep all night, and the machine stayed quiet. Angy still didn't get uninterrupted sleep because she'd wake up and wonder if the machine was still working because she wasn't used to the quiet.

Thursday: Another good night. Although Jackson starts his "no mask" mantra when he gets home from school, he doesn't cry anymore when it goes on and he goes to sleep fairly quickly, then sleeps soundly through the night.

And Jackson's been in a great mood the last few days. He seems to have gotten past the anger, and now that he's sleeping well, he probably feels better than he ever has in his life.

THANK YOU, JESUS! And thank you, dear ones, for your prayers.
